WERC Wasp control workparty in Thomas Bush, Saturday 14 February

The Waimakariri Environment and Recreation Committee (WERC) are running a multi-year project to knock back the populations of wasps in the honeydew beech forest areas of the Waimakariri Basin.

They’re a bit short of volunteers to help with uplifting wasp bait this weekend.

There’s nothing worse than a wasp down the front of your shirt when you’re happily barrelling down a track somewhere on the Craigieburn Trails, so if you have a few hours free and can help out, please contact Penny on 03 318 9219 (in residence at the Outdoor Environment Centre in Craigieburn Forest Park).

If you’re feeling particularly benevolent, why not contribute an hour or two here and an hour or two on the Thomas River Track work party on the same day!
